Our country continues to face a healthcare crisis, and the impact of Covid-19 makes it all the more important that we ensure everyone has access to quality, affordable healthcare. As the Trump Administration continues to attack the Affordable Care Act and undermine our access to quality health coverage, Jill has been on the frontlines of expanding healthcare choice at the state level.
Jill believes we need to strengthen our state healthcare exchange, especially in the wake of Covid-19, which has left far too many people without jobs or their health benefits. Though negotiations over a public healthcare option faltered in 2019, Jill supports resuming these discussions when the legislature reconvenes, particularly if our federal leaders once again look to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.
Jill also supported the bipartisan effort to provide support for first responders suffering from PTSD. She is committed to expanding these benefits to include Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
When the pandemic first began to take hold in Connecticut, Jill worked hard to deliver reliable testing centers to Glastonbury. She is committed to making sure our community continues to receive support in testing, and that we will likewise have access to a vaccine when one is approved and distributed.
During the 2019 legislative session, Jill supported efforts to greatly expand telehealth in Connecticut and dramatically lower the cost of insulin. As costs of other medications continue to rise, Jill is determined to find ways to bring the price of prescription medication down.
If reelected, Jill will support strong healthcare policies that include:
- Expanded health care options to ensure everyone has access to quality, affordable coverage;
- Expansion of Covid-19 testing and support for vaccine distribution;
- Lowered costs for prescription medication.
